Register to Vote

A UK General Election has been called for 12 December 2019

British citizens, Irish citizens and qualifying Commonwealth citizens resident in the UK can still register to vote in the forthcoming General Election.

Citizens of EU member states can register to vote in other UK elections but cannot vote in the General Election.

The deadline to register to vote is 26 November 2019.

Registering to vote is generally a quick and simple procedure and can be done online.

If you are a UK resident student with different home and term-time addresses, you can register to vote in both locations but you are only allowed to cast your vote in one place.

Registering to vote is a right for all who are eligible to do so. For the 12 December General Election, you need to be registered to vote (before the deadline) in order to be able to vote and elect representatives to the UK parliament. Voting is your chance to have your say in the decision making and political priorities of the UK.
