Advice and Counselling Service

How we can help

To book an appointment with a Mental Health Adviser please complete the Registration Form in MySiS. Please state on the form if you would like a Mental Health Advice appointment.

Mental Health Advisers are currently offering online appointments via MS Teams, and some face-to-face appointments on campus. For those who do not have access to a private space for an online appointment, there is also a limited availability of zoom rooms (private rooms for video calls).

What is Mental Health Advice?

Mental Health Advice is different to counselling as it aims to provide practical support and interventions to help you manage your mental health condition.

Mental Health Advisers can support students in the following ways:

  • Advise students on how to manage a diagnosed mental health condition during your studies
  • Advise students with no existing mental health diagnosis but who are experiencing issues with their mental health
  • Support students who are experiencing a mental health crisis
  • Support students to access longer term support from a range of NHS mental health services
  • For study related support such as exam access arrangements and DSA funded support please contact the Disability and Dyslexia Service
  • For academic support with your studies or Extenuating Circumstances, contact your Student Support Officer(SSO) in your department
